Lisa Easom Howard
|Having worked as a math instructor in both high school and college classrooms, Lisa Howard knows how to solve problems. When her niece Macy was diagnosed with and eventually succumbed to hepatoblastoma, Lisa turned those skills to solving the issue of little or no research for rare childhood cancers.
Though it may be unthinkable to those of us who pay attention, there weren’t even lab mice available to study the disease that claimed Macy’s young life. Along with Jeff Easom (Macy’s dad and Lisa’s brother), she created the Macy Easom Cancer Research Foundation to raise awareness and funding and begin the process of creating a research project from scratch…with mice.
Working with Michael, Lisa has added M4M to her list of fundraising efforts to continue to move this process forward. Ultimately, these efforts will increase the survival rate of children diagnosed with hepatoblastoma and other pediatric cancers each year, and build and fund a pediatric cancer research center in the Southeastern United States, in honor of Macy Easom.
